Terms and Conditions



Definitions:
Customer/Client - means the person who buys or agrees to buy the products/goods from the seller.
Conditions - means the terms and conditions of sale set out in this document and any special; terms and conditions agreed in writing by the seller, no
verbal agreements will be honoured unless put in writing.
Seller - means J Electrical Services.
Price - means the price for the services/products including delivery, packaging and VAT. By accepting the quotation you agree to pay the price quoted.

1. Installation Work:
a) All electrical installation work will comply with BS7671: 2008 And 1 and any amendments in force at the time of the works.
b) All electrical installation work will comply with applicable Building Regulations in force at the time of the works.
c) Unless stated otherwise, all cables will be concealed by chasing into the building fabric or concealed in building voids, under floors, etc. Where
impracticable, cabling will be neatly surface run, either clipping direct or housed in trunking / conduit.
d) Where carpet or flooring coverings may require lifting to allow concealed installation work, no charge is made for this service, with best endeavours
being made to avoid damaging them and to refit them to an acceptable standard. However, consideration of employing a specialist fitter may be prudent,
at your cost to effect a fully satisfactory reinstatement.
e) Where agreed before hand only, chases to walls etc will be re-filled to 2mm below plaster finish depth with in costs, however final finishing of skim coat
plaster and final decoration is excluded.
f) During the fitment or replacement of down lights to a ceiling it is common for the ceiling to have light damage around the holes, redecoration is not
included.
g) All endeavours will be made to undertake installation work to a clean standard, using dust sheets and vacuum cleaning equipment as necessary, where
there is a risk of a trip and fall we may need to work from the original floor covering, not a dust sheet,
h) Re-decoration and final making good is excluded from quoted costs, unless specifically detailed as included.
i) Removal from site and disposal of rubble, fittings, wiring, materials, general waste and packaging is included.
j) Certificates will only be issued once payment is received in full.
k) By accepting our quotation you are agreeing to our terms and conditions and agreeing to pay the quotation price.
l) Any promotions or discounts must be stated at time of quotation and not to be used in conjunction with any other offer.
m) Following rewiring, carpet cleaning may be required, employing a specialist fitter may be prudent, at your cost.
n) Unless specified by the customer prior to installation works, J Electrical Services & Installations will select all brands of all products to be installed, all
products to meet British standards.
o) If you have an external light fitting with PIR detector then please note that these fittings will only be replaced under our 1 year warranty if they are
deemed to be faulty. These will not be replaced if these do not work to your expectations due to the location of the light, external weather conditions such
as wind and rain, wildlife movements, trees and bushes affecting sensor.
p) All areas the electrician is expected to work in should be clear of obstacles and furniture in order to allow the engineer to carry out his/her work to the
fullest. Any sites found to be not clear and causing a delay to works will incur an extra charge which will be applied at the managers discretion on your
final invoice. Please note our hourly rate is £75.00+vat. If an engineer cannot be rescheduled and therefore cannot work that day a charge of £275.00+vat
will be applicable to you.
q) Up front deposits or full payments may be required for some works. This will be dependent on various items such as total cost of the job, the materials
being used, any materials that may need to be custom ordered for your job and therefore not resalable to another customer such as specific light fittings,
intercoms, heaters etc. Deposits are strictly non refundable if works are cancelled by the customer, if works are cancelled by us then a full refund will be
issued.
r) By accepting our quote, you confirm to have throughly read through the quote and you understand that you will pay the total amount including VAT.
Please notify us if there is any part of the quote that do you not understand or if you have reading difficulties or visual impairments prior to any works
starting. By accepting the quote, you will pay the full amount, this is not subject to how long the job takes to carry out, it is subject to the quote provided and accepted.

2. Extras and Variations:
a) All extras and variations must be agreed in writing prior to commencement.

3. Pricing:
a) The costs quoted assume continuous and unhindered access to the site by prior arrangement with you.
b) Unless stated otherwise, the costs quoted assume standard working hours between the hours of 08:00 hrs - 17:00 hrs Monday to Friday inclusive.
Work required outside these hours may attract out of hours premium rates.
c) Any additional work not covered in our quoted costs will attract additional time charge rate of £75.00 per hour plus materials cost and VAT.
d) All figures quoted are subject to VAT at the prevailing rate.
e) All figures quoted are valid for a date of 30 days from the date of the estimate or quotation.

4. Deviations from Building Regulations and BS7671:
All work where applicable, will be executed fully in compliance with applicable Building Regulations and BS7671 in force at the time of the work,
particularly in respect of work in dwellings to allow the legal Part P obligations to be met. Where a client requires deviation from such regulations, a written
instruction and record will be required.

5. Title of Goods and Property:
a) All goods supplied shall remain property of J Electrical Services until all sums due have been paid in full. Should payment not be received J Electrical
Services will need to be granted access to remove the products installed,
b) The client is responsible for ensuring that the property is insured for the duration of the installation work.
c) Once full payment is received the responsibility of the goods supplied shall pass to the client.

6. Warranty:
J Electrical Services warrants its installation work to be defect free for a period of twelve months from invoice date, Such cover does not extend to goods
not supplied by J Electrical Services, physical damage to products, or any instance where the original installation has been altered or tampered with
subsequently by third parties.

7. Access;
While works are taking place we will require a set of keys to the building and to individual flats, the site must be safe.

8. Structural Repairs;
Any coving and skirting boards removed will be not be reinstalled or painted. Please acquire a quotation from an external contractor for this service.

9 Noise Pollution;
During working hours, drilling will be as loud as 100DB, warning other people in the building will need to be done by others

10. Electricity;
During working hours J Electrical will have the right to switch on and off electricity as we require, special care of freezers will be applied at all times.
Electricity will remain on during non working hours, so temporary sockets and lights may be installed to the property remains habitable.
Payment - Invoice will be due within 7 days of issue date (unless agreed otherwise). NICEIC Certificates will only be issued once payment is received in
full.

11. Overdue Invoices

Should you fail to make payment of your invoice on or before the due date, we will send an invoice reminder within 14 working days via post. Failure to settle the invoice will result in J Electrical Services adding late payment fees of £100.00+VAT per week, up to a maximum of 6 weeks when J Electrical will then start legal proceedings.

12. Minimum Attendance Fee

a)The minimum attendance fee charge is £75.00+VAT totalling £90.00. This includes up to one hours labour which does not include materials, these will be charged at an additional cost. The fee is based on our attendance to the property. Should your electrical issue require less than one hours labour, no discount or refund will be applied. Please note, the time slot is allocated to the original job request. This does not include additional jobs other than the repair works relating to the original enquiry.

b) If your job requires more time we may decide to quote for further works which can be carried out at another time. In some cases our engineer will be able to stay at the property longer, this will be charged at an hourly labour rate of £85.00+VAT.

c) This charge is subject to VAT and will be charged on your invoice.

d) This charge will be invoiced after the job has been attended.

e) The charge will need to be paid within 24 hours.
